Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS), launched in 2013 aims at providing strategic funding to eligible state higher educational institutions. The funding would flow from the central ministry through the state governments/union territories to the State Higher Education Councils before reaching the identified institutions. The funding to states would be made on the basis of the critical appraisal of State Higher Education Plans, which would describe each state’s strategy to address issues of equity, access and excellence in higher education.

In Uttarakhand, RUSA in its first instalment has provided rupees 582.06 crores to cater the need of Higher Education Department and affiliated universities and colleges. Government Degree College, Thatyur was sanctioned a grand total of 188.42 lakhs under the following heads. Rupees 64.50 lakhs under the new construction, rupees 63.92 lakhs under renovation and 60 lakhs under the new facilities head. The college has utilized the released grant for construction of college building, computer centre, channelling and fencing of the college campus, building a retaining wall, and constructing an approach road.

The college has also spent on improvising infrastructures, furniture, books and laboratory equipment. The third instalment of the released fund is being utilized by the college according to the approved DPR.
